This spring the Rolex Watch Company will sponsor the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day event. This event will take place from April 22nd to the 25th, and will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Although the name of the events suggests it will span over a period of three days, there are actually four days of competition.
The first two days of the event are dedicated to dressage-which means due to the large number of entries, all breeds will be given the opportunity to compete at various levels. The third day is dedicated to cross country, and there will be a show jumping competition on the final day.
The riders and horses will vie for top placing to win a portion of the $190,000 of prize money. The First place winner will awarded with $65,000 and a luxurious Rolex timepiece.
This Rolex Kentucky Three-Day event is part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. The Badmintonn Horse Trials in May and the Burghley Horse Trials in September complete the Grand Slam. The prestigious award to the rider who wins all three is succession is $250,000 in prize money. There has only been one rider to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, so good luck to all riders this year!
