Rolex Submariner Goes Deep

The Rolex Submariner made its debut in 1953.  Also known as “The Diver’s Watch” this timepiece became a favorite of those who love to explore the depths of the sea.

Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner was the first watch of that era that was designed to be guaranteed waterproof to 330 feet.  Just a couple  short years later, it improved with a guarantee to 660 feet underwater.  This was wonderful news to the divers that needed this useful tool.

The Submariner was also the first diving watch with a rotatable bezel.  This bezel can be a livesaver, as the graduations on the bezel help to provide the diver with an accurate indication of diving time.  The bezel rotates only anti-clockwise, ensuring no chance of error when estimating surfacing time.  The luminesence of this timepiece also aids the diver in even the most light deprived conditions.

Rolex thought of everything to accommodate the diver with this watch!  The patented Rolex Glidelock clasp was especially made to fit secure and comfortably over even the most protective diving suit.  The Submariner today is designed to resist extreme conditions and withstand a depth of 1,000 feet.  Now the diver can have both safety and style in the deepest and darkest depths of the sea!
